Atheon is a Last Rucker Standing event. Every hour, on the whistle, every competitor shoulders a ruck and walks out on a 2.5 mile loop with about 800 feet of climbing. Make it back to the corral before the next whistle and you go again. Miss it and your day is over.
There is no set distance and no set finish time. The event runs until one competitor is left.
The name comes from Greek myth. Atheon was one of the horses that pulled the chariot of Helios across the sky, carrying a heavy load on a journey with no end.
Atheon runs the same day as the Music City Trail Ultra, on the HardWin family farm.

The 2027 Award
A custom axe
The last one standing takes home a custom axe, its blade etched in gold with the Atheon emblem and Last Rucker Standing 2027.
There is one award, and it goes to the last competitor standing. To claim it, the winner walks one final lap alone.

The 2025 winner took home a custom champion belt. Every Atheon award is one of a kind.
How It Works
The Whistle
The first evolution starts at 7:00 AM. A new one starts every hour on the hour.
The Loop
About 2.5 miles and 800 feet of climbing, starting and ending at the Start/Finish Corral.
The Corral
Be back inside the corral before the next whistle. Miss it and you are out with a DNF.
The Last Lap
When one competitor remains, they walk one final lap to claim the win. If no one makes it back in time, there is no winner.

On Site
A timing clock is posted at the Start/Finish. Corral officials track every competitor by bib number, and course officials are stationed at key points on the loop. All officials come from the rucking community.
Basic aid stations and restrooms are available at the start area.
There is a small creek on the course that can hold water after a good rain. Have a plan for wet feet.
Live on HardTracks
Atheon runs live on HardTracks, our race timing and live results app. Every yard is tracked from the corral, so family, friends and crews can follow the whole race from anywhere, start to final bell.
What Fans Will See
- Who is still standing, and who went out in which yard
- Yards, miles and hours for every rucker
- A live feed of corral calls and race updates
- Your photo or your name, your goal yards and your backyard history
Your Registration Answers
The required questions at signup (goal yards, backyard experience, loop pace and training) build your rucker card and give fans real numbers to follow all race long.
Your Headshot (Optional)
After you register, HardTracks will email you a link to upload a headshot. We would love to have one so the people following along know who is rucking. A recent photo of your face and shoulders works best. Rather not? No problem. Skip it and we will show your name on the board instead.
